Skier-X – what the heck is it?

by Dr. Sam Hazledine | Aug 17, 2011

After my last blog post about my goal top compete in the 2014 Olympics, a few people have asked me what Skier-X is.

Fair question!

It’s like Moto-X on skis; four skiers start out of the gates at the same time and race to the bottom over jumps, Wu Tangs, and around berms. It’s a pretty physical, it’s fast, and it’s a lot of fun.

Here’s a link to check it out in the X-Games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ox49KLNVkE

I’m off to Mt Hotham in Australia on Friday for racing Sunday and Monday, then back to NZ on Tuesday for the Winter Games next Friday.

So all the training comes down to these races. I’ve done what I can to prepare now it’s about being my absolute best because I’ll be racing against some of the top guys in the world.
