Postgraduate Generalist Placement Education programme (PGGP)

by Rachel Brown | Oct 27, 2011

Postgraduate Generalist Placement Education programme (PGGP)

PGGP is a three-month education programme for PGY2 and PGY3 doctors, funded by Health Workforce New Zealand and provided by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP).

PGGP provides an opportunity to experience hands-on general practice in a supportive, safe and stimulating environment.

You can choose your placement from a large number of rural general practices throughout the country.

Throughout the three months, you will have the benefit of supervision and one-on-one teaching sessions from an experienced GP teacher approved by the RNZCGP.

Key elements of the training are:

  • patient-centred care
  • the generalist nature of general practice
  • evidence-based medicine.

The programme start and finish dates follow the hospital quarter and there are no specific application deadlines, but we encourage you to apply as early as possible as places are limited.

More information about the programme can be found on the RNZCGP website http://www.rnzcgp.org.nz/postgraduate-generalist-placement-education-programme-pggp

You are also welcome to contact the PGGP administrator Helene Keating on Ph:  04 550 2829 or Email: helene.keating@rnzcgp.org.nz
